;widows: auto;-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;word-spacing:0px’>Canada Post has informed employees that several neighbourhoods of Markham – with postal codes starting with L3R, L3T, L6G – will be converting from door-to-door mail delivery to community mailboxes in early summer 2015 as part of the Five-point Action Plan announced last December.
This represents 16,140 addresses, including 164 business addresses.
Affected residents are receiving an information package with a mail-in survey.
The package will tell them how they can express their priorities and preferences about their new delivery method, the post office says.
The process has provided useful insights and facilitated our planning with the city planning department to help us choose safe, suitable locations for the mailboxes, according to a Canada Post spokesperson.
No regular full-time or part-time employee will lose their job as a result of the initiative, according to the Crown corporation.
“As we have stated throughout this process, we will reduce our workforce largely through attrition as people retire,” Daria Hill of Canada Post communications said in an email.
