On Thanksgiving Monday October 8, 2012 from 10:30am to 12:30pm, a group of 50 residents of Thornhill had a guided walk of German Mills Settlers Park led by Theresa Moore of Toronto Field Naturalists.
Theresa Moore introduced residents to the flora and fauna of the Park – the native and migratory birds and local vegetation.
We also had a walk by the German Mills creek trying to spot spawning salmon.
Residents were pleasantly surprised to see that the creek had been cleaned from debris by the City of Markham crew. We wish to thank the City for timely action!
A fascinating walk in a crisp fall morning has gave us much fun and opened many interesting facts about the wildlife, birds and flora of our beloved Park.
Thanks to Theresa and Thornhill residents for your ongoing support of our park!
Also many thanks to Bernard Sze, who has come up with the idea and invited Theresa to give this wonderful Thanksgiving presentation.
