Settlers Park Residents Association (SPRA) held a meeting on Wednesday, May 30 at Thornhill Community Centre

Many community members were planning to attend May 30
meeting with City of Markham representatives to discuss our common
concern about proposed plans of building aerobic bioreactor in German
Mills Park. Less than 48 hours before the planned meeting, the Town
officials have cancelled and re-scheduled the meeting without even
announcing the new date, which was considered by the majority of those
who planned to attend as unprofessional and disrespectful.

Therefore, Settlers Park Residents Association (SPRA) re-booked
reservation of the North Hall at Thornhill Community Centre, which was
earlier cancelled by the Town representatives.

About 80 people attended the meeting. There was live
violin music and an art workshop for children. Irene, a
teacher from ArtOne Academy, provided a drawing workshop for
the community kids. The topic of the workshop was “Protect German Mills Park
wildlife and birds”. The drawing of the kids will be published at our website,
displayed at the Thornhill Community Centre and presented to the Mayor of Markham
and the Markham Council.

Meeting: Wednesday, May 30, 2012 Thornhill Community Center, North Hall 7pm-8pm

I am disgusted that my neighbours – people I have lived next to for years – have been using such mean spirited scare tactics. I was utterly appaled at the behaviour of Ms. Seymour last night. Mr. Shore spoke to a group of us at length in the lobby and doesn’t even support this project.
